Forensic And Medical Sexual Assault Clinicians Australia.

Forensic and Medical Sexual Assault Clinicians Australia (FAMSACA) is a professional organisation for nurses and medical practitioners who practice in or have an interest in the area of sexual assault. FAMSACA is a not-for-profit organisation with a focus on providing education in the field of sexual assault and provides a forum in which clinicians can network and collaborate.

National Adult Sexual Assault Medical Committee (NASAMC) formed.

3rd June 2003

FAMSACA established and incorporated NASAMC. Founding committee established.

31st July 2003

FAMSAC Australia name reserved.

19th September 2003

FAMSAC Australia constitution agreed by committee.

Incorporation of FAMSAC Australia occurred in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

WHAT WE DO

Supporting Clinicians

FAMSACA enables sexual assault clinicians to further their education through subsidised attendance at a number of educations events, including a national FAMSACA symposium which is held every two years.

Our committee

The FAMSAC Australia committee is elected on a yearly basis at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Expressions of interest for election onto the committee are emailed out to members prior to this. Members are encouraged to apply.

The purpose of this policy is to:
• Ensure that all expenditures made in the name of the organisation are authorised and independently reviewed.
• Guard against any potential abuse of payments procedures, while maintaining flexibility and avoiding unnecessary formality.

Provide guidance for the committee on communication within the committee, with membership and with external agencies. The content of any communication should be accurate and unbiased and delivered with respect and not risk the reputation of the organization.
